Bob Dylan

TANGLED UP IN BOB
Original Watercolor, 24x20 inches
Sold • Prints Available

This portrait of Bob Dylan was inspired by my intrigue with this sensitive artist who put Hibbing, MN on the map. I consider his lyrics and melodies, his compositions, among the finest.

My artistic philosophy is that “less” is “more.” When painting my aim is to capture the essence of each subject, and simultaneously achieve a fresh, sparkling watercolor. My goal is that my work exemplify the spontaneity of watercolor, reflect the qualities of light, beautiful precipitations and transitions in watercolor washes, and good color-chords. Most of my paintings start with a long hard study of my subject followed by several linear drawings, value and color sketches, all of which contributes to elimination of (or less dependence upon) futile facts.
