Transparent Watercolor Paints — My favorite watercolor paints are professional/artist grade transparent watercolors (tube) manufactured by Winsor&Newton, Daniel Smith, Stephen Quiller, and/or Holbein.

BRUSHES —
I use more synthetic or synthetic-sable combos than pure sable watercolor brushes. Favorite brands include Robert Simmons, Stephen Quiller, and/or Richeson. Only the 1-inch Flat and a No. 10 Round are absolutely essential. Others are optional.

- No. 10 Round - sable or synthetic-sable combo
- No. 10-12 Rounds synthetic (Richeson or Quiller)
- No. 6 or No. 8 Round (Robert Simmons, Richeson or Quiller)
- SUMI-E Calligraphy Brush
- 1-1/4 inch Palette/Painting Knife (soak in vinegar to cover blade for 24 hours to prepare knife to hold paint)
OTHER PAINTING MATERIALS —
- Watercolor Paper – Arches 140 # Cold Press
- Quiller Palette or large metal butcher’s tray
- 2 Containers for Water – 1 for clean, 1 for dirty water
- Support Boards – 2 boards (Masonite or MARLITE sized 12x16" for quarter sheet)
- Bull Dog Clips (other clips, or clip clothes pins) - 4
- Masking or Artists Tape (1-inch)
